As this year comes to a close, we’re reminded of everything that our ABPMP Toronto Chapter has been able to accomplish during our first year of existence. Thanks to our incredible supporters, members, and volunteers.
Our Board of Directors has worked hard to define a Chapter that really aligns our personal and professional aspirations with who we are as Canadians. We defined our vision to become the leadership centre that inspires and empowers its members to realize the full potential of Business Process Management methodologies and best practices that drive transformation, innovation and personal growth for the betterment of our society in Canada. We also spent some thoughtful time to defining our strategic goals and our roadmap that will set our Chapter for success in the upcoming years. During this formation phase, we learned how to be responsive instead of reactive and, most importantly, we got to know incredible members and BPM experts who love what they do and believe that together we can transform our organizations to become simpler and more capable to deliver value to clients.

Businesses have always faced unpredictable, surprising and unexpected events. However, today’s organizations are not managed the same as thirty years ago. The level of complexity has grown exponentially over the years due to the interconnected and interoperated internal and external systems. In a complex system, the predictable pattern is no longer valid. Each business condition can produce different outcomes, depending on the interaction with internal and external elements in the system. The pace of these external elements is now faster than ever. To sustain ongoing and rapid changes, managers have adapted over the years by introducing even more complexity. Our senior executives recognize that only tackling cost reduction will not make them more competitive in the market. Simplification is the word for success.
Organization needs more analytics and BPM methodologies to win over complexity.
No organization can operate without feedback. Smart organizations pay special attention to metrics. Complexity and rapid environment pace demand for better metrics.
2016 has been a year of technology-driven changes with a strong influence of cloud, mobile technologies, and agile methodologies. Dynamic BPM and business transformation play important roles on managing this increased technology connectivity, by playing an important role to manage consumer and organization behavioural changes and introducing dynamic processes as catalyst to improvement and simplification.
Many digital process specialist believe that BPM and process improvement are about to overcome the stigma of being useful only in saving cost and optimizing rigid work patterns. Business Process Management (BPM) will become an essential enabler of digital business because can collaborate and manage networks of resources, handle dynamic business patterns, assist on critical business and technical decisions and monitor outcomes with the level of governance required. Incremental transformation with emphasis on dynamic process and case behaviour will be critical support to rapid development, visual business and better client experience. The trends in digital business are unstoppable, so emergent and growing BPM will be dragged along as an essential enabler.
